Washing and Care Instructions For Clothes

DTG Method for Textile Design

Our primary method for transferring designs onto t-shirts and similar items is Direct to Garment (DTG) printing, similar to digital printing on paper and particularly effective for on-demand cotton items.

Adhering to care instructions is crucial for garment maintenance. This may seem like an obvious tip, but it’s essential always to follow specific washing and storage guidelines provided by brands. These instructions can vary based on the materials and colors used in the garments.

Inside-Out Washing Technique for Graphic Protection

Maximize the lifespan of your printed graphics by adopting simple yet effective washing and drying techniques. A key practice is turning your garments inside out before washing and drying. This approach helps protect the graphics from the abrasive effects of detergents and heat, ensuring they remain vibrant and fresh for as long as possible.

Utilize Low Wash Settings for Print Preservation

Discover the lesser-known functionalities of your washing machine that are ideal for print-on-demand garments. Aim for the lowest possible wash settings, such as those designed for delicate items. The gentler the wash cycle, the better the preservation of your printed garments, maintaining their quality and appearance.

Select Mild Detergents for Gentle Cleaning

Avoid harsh detergents suitable for heavy-duty clothes but detrimental to print-on-demand garments. Instead, opt for milder detergents specifically formulated for delicate fabrics. This ensures a gentle cleaning process, preserving the integrity and colors of your prints. If you cannot find an appropriate detergent, diluting your regular detergent can be an effective alternative to reduce its harshness and protect your garments’ vibrant colors.

Selective Washing: Solo or With Similar Colors

For DTG garments, especially during their initial washes, using a washing machine with a mini-cycle or small load setting is ideal. Once the garment becomes accustomed to regular washes, or to conserve resources, wash it with similarly colored items. Group light colors with other cool, breezy fabrics, and pair reds with other vibrant hues. This approach helps prevent color bleeding and ensures your garments retain their optimal appearance.

Avoid Dryers for Print Preservation

Dryers can be detrimental to print-on-demand garments. It’s best to avoid using them. Instead, opt for air drying your garments indoors and away from direct sunlight to maintain their quality. If using a dryer becomes necessary, use the tumble dry option with the lowest possible heat setting to minimize potential damage to the prints.

No Iron

Ironing print-on-demand garments is often unnecessary and can be risky. To remove wrinkles, try tumble drying with a damp washcloth on a low setting for a few minutes. This can effectively smooth out wrinkles and refresh the garment. If ironing is unavoidable, cover the garment with a thin towel or use the iron on a very low setting to protect the print and fabric from heat damage.

Sunlight Storage Caution for Printed Garments

While your print-on-demand garments may look appealing in natural light, prolonged exposure to sunlight during storage can lead to fading. It’s advisable to hang these freshly washed items in a dark closet, away from light. While folding is an option, hanging is preferable to avoid wrinkles and makes the garments more accessible and easy to find.

Maintain Cool Conditions for Garment Longevity

Print-on-demand garments are sensitive to heat. While they won’t suffer immediate damage from warm environments, over time, heat can cause fading and wear, potentially making decals and prints sticky and less visually appealing. It’s crucial to store these garments in cool conditions to preserve their quality and appearance.
